is a scam.

Another Joseph W. Newman style scam: has appeared, there is a new one just about every month.

As with all of these scams, it promises to let you into a secret discovered by uneducated guys in their sheds, that you will know better than those arrogant-know-it-all scientists with their equations and experiments, that you will prove them wrong, that their is a massive Pentagon and power company cover up…. that we can make free energy out of nothing… Actually, in reality, it is just a scam taking advantage of your lack of a good scientific education and you distrust in authority… it seeks out you because of this and you desire to become energy independent.

Please, it is a scam. There are real ways of making your own power which don’t defy physics, real ones which actually work, this is not one of them.

Bob Park (my hero) says:

The first time I heard that promise it was made by Joseph W. Newman on the
CBS Evening News with Dan Rather in 1987. A Mississippi backwoods-mechanic
with a grade-school education, Newman took a course in electricity. When
he heard that doubling the number of turns in a coil would double the
magnetic field, he left to wind a mighty coil that would generate more
energy than it took. Newman never got to Lenz’s law, and CBS did not
bother to check with a scientist. About every five years since, that
machine is reinvented. You can now build your own “energy machine” with a
kit from Magnets4Energy, but it still won’t work.

Bob also has a whole chapter about the Newman scam in his book, Voodoo Science.

And see how many of the Seven Warning Signs Of Bogus Science it fits into… 6 out of 7 is an impressive score:

  1. The discoverer pitches the claim directly to the media.
  2. The discoverer says that a powerful establishment is trying to suppress his or her work.
  3. The scientific effect involved is always at the very limit of detection.
  4. Evidence for a discovery is anecdotal.
  5. The discoverer says a belief is credible because it has endured for centuries.
  6. The discoverer has worked in isolation.
  7. The discoverer must propose new laws of nature to explain an observation.

  1. hugh:

Hi Jon that guy actually sells a document but half of it was stolen from a free document that I wrote ten years back and give away for free. It’s nothing to do with perpetual motion its how to make an alternator for wind energy which actually is free unlike his scam publication that he ripped off.

  2. Jon:

Hi Hugh, What is it if it is not a perpetual motion machine then what is it? It is hard to say what it is that he is trying to sell, but the CIA and the Government and magnets and to secret information… it stinks of perpetual motion to me… free power forever for an investment of $100 it has to be a scam.

  3. Dan:

hello jon, i was scammed by the magnet for energy(i feel a fool) these scammers are riding off the back of controversy yes i was pulled in big style the description says that it supplies free energy with links to you tube showing perpetual motion once you have parted with your cash you get a shoddy document showing you how to make a wind turbine total crap! good lesson learned made me a whole lot wiser

  4. DeJay:

I toowas scammed. You have to down load an ebook. The instructions tell you how tobuild the generator which is very small and only puts out a little over 3 watts. It would rewuire machine shop tools and precision. If my estination is correct, one little mismeasurment and it won’t work if ever was meanth to work. I got my credit card company to get me a refund.

  5. Nathan:

I’ll bet you have affiliate payment arrangements set up with all the scam sites which you list so prominently on your website. Brilliant!! You get paid lots of money, but if the government ever comes sniffing around you can say you were against it all the time.
